Q:  Will I have to change my phone number?

A:  No.  We will have your number ported over from your current local and long distance provider so you can keep your current number.

A:  Whatever you’re using now will work just fine.

A:  No.  Only outgoing calls you make count against your monthly minutes.

A:  Soon, you will be able to check your minutes usage on our website or by phone.  Check back soon for updated information.

Q:  Do local toll calls go towards my local minutes or my long distance minutes?

A:   Local toll calls are charged to your long distance minutes.

Q:  Can I receive an itemized phone bill?

A:  Yes.  Every call you make can be listed on your bill.

Q:  What calling features are available, and how much extra do they cost?

A:  The following features are included in the price of your phone service:  Call Waiting, Call Waiting ID, Call Return, Call Blocking, Call Trace, 900/976 Call Blocking, Three-Way Calling, and Caller ID Number.

Q:  What happens if I go over my phone minutes?

A:  Minutes over your monthly allotment are billed at 3.5˘ per minute in 6-second increments.  You also have the option of purchasing 500 extra minutes for $10.00.  Just call our office at 548-6909 to request extra minute blocks when you need them.

Q:  What are your international calling rates?

A:  Rates are available by calling our office at 548-6909, or on our website at http://getinthering.net/intlrates.html

Q:  Who will be my local service and long distance service providers, and how many phone bills can I expect to receive?

A:  US SONET will be both your local and long distance provider.  Service from any other company will no longer be needed.  You will receive one simple, easy to understand bill each month.

Q:  What hidden charges will appear on my phone bill?

A:  As a competitive local exchange carrier, US SONET is not required to charge (and chooses not to charge) extraneous fees.  Therefore, the only extra charges you will see are federal, state and local taxes.

Q:  Can I get an additional phone line?

A:  Yes.  A second line with a different number is just $18.00 per month.  Unlimited local calling is included in the price, with long distance calls billed at 3.5˘ per minute in 6-second increments.  500 long distance minutes can be purchased for an additional $10.00 per month.

Q:  Can I still use my fax machine with your service?

A:  Yes.  Any equipment you currently use on your phone line can be used with US SONET’s fiber service.

Q:  What does US SONET consider a “local” call?

A:  US SONET’s local calling area is the same as other local exchange carriers serving Salem; namely, the Salem, Centralia, Mt. Vernon, Kell, Iuka, Kinmundy, Harmony, and Bluford.
