SONET INTERNET HELP - Checking your Modem Status

The
following steps are use if your modem is not working
properly, i.e. not dial-tone, port already open,
and poor connection speed.
1. Windows 95/98/ME users - Click on Start, go to Settings
and then left click on the Control Panel. In the
Control Panel, left click on the Modem.
Windows
XP/2000 users - Click on Start, go to the Control
Panel, and left click Internet and
Network Connections. If the upper left hand corner,
left click on Phone
and Modem Options.

Windows 95/98/ME users - In Modem Properties, in the
top white window there
is a name of modem. Write down the exact name
of the modem. After you
written down the name of modem, left click on your modem
and then left click on
the Properties button.
Windows
XP/2000 users - In Phone and Modem Properties, left
click on the Modems
tab. There will be a white window with the name
of your computer's modem.
Write down the exact name of your modem. After you written down the name
of modem, left click on your modem and then left click on the Properties
button.

Windows 95/98/ME users - In the Modem Name
Properties, left click on the
Connections tab and then left click on the Advanced
button. In the Extra
Settings text-field type in a modem command
that matches the name of your
modem. Click on the following links for a list of modem
commands:

Commands to Disable v.90 or v.92
Modem
Initialization Strings
Once
you have the modem command entered, left click on the OK
button on the Advanced window,
left click on the OK button on the Modem Name Properties, left click on the
Close button of the Modem Properties. Click out
of your Control Panel. Left
click on Start, go to Shutdown, click on Restart,
and then on the OK button.
Please
note - Every time you put in a modem command, you
must restart you computer so the modem
command can take effect.
Windows
XP/2000 - In the Modem Name Properties, left click
on the Advanced tab. In the Extra
initialization commands text-field type in a modem
command
that matches the name of your
modem. Click on the following links for a list of modem
